Terms of Service for Synops

1. Acceptance of Terms

Welcome to Synops ("the App," "we," "us," or "our"). By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Synops, you ("User," "you," or "your") agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Keeping Up With Technology Pty Ltd, the developer of Synops. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

2. Description of Service

Synops is a mobile application for iPhone and Apple Watch that provides:

• Real-time meeting audio recording via device microphone
• On-device speech-to-text transcription using Apple's on-device speech frameworks
• AI-powered meeting analysis using Apple Intelligence (on-device language models)
• Structured meeting outputs including summaries, decisions, action items, risks, and follow-up drafts
• Role-based and template-based meeting customisation
• Action item tracking and export to Apple Reminders
• Calendar integration for quick meeting setup
• PDF export of meeting notes
• Apple Watch recording support
• Import of existing transcripts via the iOS Share Sheet

All processing occurs entirely on your device. Synops does not transmit your recordings, transcripts, or meeting data to any server, cloud service, or external API.

3. No Account Required

Synops does not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use the App. There is no login, registration, or authentication process. All features are available immediately upon installation.

4. No Subscription or Payment

Synops is a one-time purchase (or free, as applicable to your purchase channel) application. There are no:

• Recurring subscription fees
• In-app purchases
• Premium tier upgrades
• Paywalled features

All features described in Section 2 are available without any ongoing payment.

5. Device Requirements and Apple Intelligence

5.1 Core Requirements

Synops requires:

• iPhone running iOS 15.0 or later
• Apple Watch (optional) running watchOS 17.0 or later for Watch recording

5.2 Apple Intelligence Features

Advanced transcription and AI analysis features require:

• iOS 26 or later
• A device with Apple Intelligence support and Apple Intelligence enabled

On devices or iOS versions that do not meet these requirements, limited fallback functionality may be available. We make no guarantee that all features will be available on all devices.

6. Acceptable Use

6.1 Permitted Use

You may use the App for personal and professional purposes, including recording and analysing your own meetings and conversations, in accordance with these Terms and all applicable laws.

6.2 Consent to Record

You are solely responsible for obtaining all necessary consents before recording any meeting or conversation.

Recording laws vary by jurisdiction. In many countries and states, it is illegal to record a conversation without the consent of all parties. Before recording any meeting:

• Inform all participants that the meeting will be recorded
• Obtain explicit consent from all participants where required by law
• Comply with all applicable recording consent laws in your jurisdiction

We expressly disclaim any liability for recordings made without proper consent.

7. Data and Privacy

7.1 On-Device Processing

All data processed by Synops — including audio recordings, transcripts, AI analysis, and meeting notes — is stored exclusively on your device. We do not collect, transmit, store, or have access to any of this data.

7.2 Privacy Policy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy. Please review the Privacy Policy carefully.

8. Intellectual Property

8.1 Ownership

The App, including its software code, user interface design, AI prompt logic, and branding, is owned by Keeping Up With Technology Pty Ltd.

8.2 Your Content

Recordings, transcripts, and meeting notes created with Synops remain your property. We make no claim to ownership of or licence over your meeting data.

10. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

10.1 AI Output Accuracy

AI-generated content is produced by on-device language models and may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies.

• AI-generated summaries are not verbatim records
• Action items and decisions may not accurately reflect what was said
• You should review all AI-generated content before relying on it

10.2 No Professional Advice

Nothing in the App or its AI-generated outputs constitutes legal, medical, financial, or other professional advice.

10.3 Data Loss

Because all data is stored locally on your device, we cannot recover lost data. We strongly recommend regularly backing up your device using iCloud or iTunes/Finder.

14. Dispute Resolution

14.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia, without regard to conflict of law principles.
