GiftCountdown ("we," "our," or "us"), developed by Keeping up with technology Pty Ltd, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application GiftCountdown (the "App").

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By using GiftCountdown, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

Information We Collect

1. Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The following information is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly use the optional Style Request feature (see Section 5):

Gifting & Event Data

• Person profiles (first name, last name, gender, clothing region)
• Clothing size information (shirt, pants, shoes) and personal interests
• Gift ideas, descriptions, and links
• Gift statuses (Idea, Purchased, Wrapped, Shipped, Delivered)
• Budget ranges and prices for gift items
• Holiday and event tracking details
• Milestone calculations (upcoming ages)

User Preferences

• Notification settings and schedules
• Shipping region and settings
• App settings and configurations (e.g., sorting preferences)

Calendar Sync Data (Local Only)

• Metadata used to link GiftCountdown events with your device's native iOS Calendar app. This data never leaves your device.

Device Identity (Keychain)

• A randomly generated, anonymous App Install ID is stored securely in your device's Keychain. This ID is used solely to associate Style Requests you send with your specific app installation, so completed responses can be routed back to you. It contains no personal information and is not linked to your Apple ID or any other identity.

2. Information You Choose to Share via the Style Request Feature

When you use the optional Style Request feature, the following data is temporarily transmitted to and stored by our third-party backend (Supabase):

• The recipient's first name (as entered by you in the app)
• The recipient's gender preference, clothing sizes (shirt, pants, shoes), size region, and personal interests/wishlist — as completed by the recipient
• Your anonymous App Install ID (used to route the completed response back to your device)
• A request token (a random UUID) that acts as the unique identifier for the request
• The request's expiry timestamp (7 days from creation)

This data is held temporarily and deleted after it has been imported into your app or after the 7-day expiry period. See Section 5 for full details.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

We explicitly do NOT collect, store, or transmit:

• Your name, email address, or any account credentials
• Payment card numbers or financial information
• Contact lists or phone numbers (other than what you manually enter)
• Photos or media files
• Browsing history
• Precise real-time location
• Biometric data (Face ID data)
• Any analytics, crash logs, or usage telemetry

How We Use Your Information

Local Data Usage (On Your Device)

Data stored locally is used to:

1. Manage Your Gifts: Track ideas and delivery statuses.
2. Event Countdown: Calculate and display time remaining for birthdays or holidays.
3. Age Tracking: Automatically calculate milestone ages for upcoming birthdays.
4. Calendar Integration: Sync events with your device's native iOS Calendar app.
5. Send Notifications: Provide reminders about upcoming events and gift deadlines.
6. Size Recommendations: Suggest gift sizes based on the person's stored profile.

Third-Party Data Usage

Data shared with third-party services is used solely for the features described in this policy. We do NOT:

• Sell or rent your personal information
• Use your data for advertising or marketing
• Share your data with data brokers
• Use your data for AI training or model development

Data Storage Locations

On-Device Storage (SwiftData)

Location: Your iPhone/iPad only.

Data Stored: All personal gift tracking, people profiles, event data, and app preferences.

Retention: Data remains until you delete the app or manually delete individual records within the app.

On-Device Secure Storage (Keychain)

Location: Your iPhone/iPad's secure Keychain.

Data Stored: Your anonymous App Install ID (a random UUID).

Retention: Persists until the app is deleted and Keychain data is cleared.

Supabase (Third-Party Backend — Style Request Feature Only)

Location: Supabase cloud infrastructure (hosted on AWS).

Data Stored: Style Request records as described in Section 2.

Retention: Deleted after the request is completed and imported into the app, or after 7 days (whichever comes first).

Third-Party Services

The Style Request Feature (Optional)

The Style Request feature allows you to generate a personalised link and send it to a contact. When the recipient opens the link and completes the web form, their style preferences are temporarily stored on our Supabase backend until your app retrieves them.

How It Works

1. You initiate: Tapping "Style Request" in a person's profile creates a temporary record in our Supabase database. You are provided a unique shareable link.
2. Recipient completes the form: The recipient visits the link (hosted at giftinformation.keepingupwithtechnology.com) and enters their gender, clothing sizes, and interests.
3. Your app retrieves the data: The next time the app checks for updates, it downloads the completed response and saves it locally to the person's profile in SwiftData.
4. Data is deleted: Once imported, the Supabase record is deleted. If not completed, the record expires and is automatically deleted after 7 days.

Important: No account is required for the recipient, and no profile is created. This feature is entirely optional.

Subscription and Tipping — Apple StoreKit

• Security: All financial transactions are handled exclusively by Apple's secure payment infrastructure via the native StoreKit framework. We have no access to your payment card information.
• Voluntary Nature: Tipping is entirely optional and is intended as a way for users to support the developer.
• No Impact on Functionality: Providing a tip does not unlock additional features, remove limitations, or otherwise change the App's functionality.
• Data Rights: Your purchase data is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data Security

• On-Device: All locally stored data is protected by iOS data protection, encrypted at rest by your device's hardware.
• Keychain: The App Install ID is stored in the iOS Keychain, which provides hardware-backed encryption.
• In Transit: All communication between the app and Supabase uses HTTPS/TLS encryption.
• Supabase: The profile_requests table uses Row Level Security (RLS) policies to ensure that only the app installation that created a request can read or delete it.

Data Retention

Your Privacy Rights

1. Right to Access: View all your data within the app interface.
2. Right to Rectification: Correct any event, gift, or person details directly in the app.
3. Right to Deletion: Delete the app to permanently remove all local data. For pending Style Requests, use the "Cancel Request" option in the app.
4. Right to Portability: Data stored locally can be reviewed and managed within the app.

GDPR & CCPA Compliance

GiftCountdown is designed to minimise data collection. For data held on our Supabase servers (Style Request feature):

• Legal Basis (GDPR): Processing is based on your explicit consent — you initiate every Style Request yourself.
• No Sale of Data (CCPA): We do not sell, share for cross-context advertising, or trade personal information.
• No Profiling: We do not use your data for any profiling, targeting, or analytics purposes.

Children's Privacy

GiftCountdown is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted a Style Request, please contact us and we will delete the data promptly.
